Luena - The Central Bank of Angola (BNA) plans to create money transfer services by cell phone this year to reduce crowds in commercial banks and ATM, at the country level.

Speaking to the press after the inauguration  of the new BNA director in eastern Moxico province , the  BNA administrator for the Regional Delegations, Tavares Cristóvão, said that the service, which is in the study phase, will count on the participation of the mobile phone companies ( Unitel and Movicel).

Without specifying the technical functionality of the service, he explained that the implementation of this system is expected to carry out monetary movements in any region of the country, to end the crowds  in banking facilities and thus contribute to improving the provision of services by these commercial institutions.

The new  BNA regional director , Francisco Canvula Manuel, who replaced , José Baptista in the postion , said that he will continue the projects planned by his institution, that of improving the quality and circulation of banknotes, especially those of  low bill notes , as well as how to strengthen the link with commercial banks.

Moxico Governor, Gonçalves Muandumba, on the occasion, congratulated the new BNA manager and the intention to implement this monetary service, aimed  to significantly help people in the regions of the country, where there are no bank branches.

The BNA Delegation has been operating in Moxico since 2019, after being inoperative in 1997.
