Luanda - The World Bank (WB) has a portfolio of 17 projects in Angola, with funding worth a total of 3.6 billion dollars, with the implementation period from 2017 to 2029, its representative in the Southern African nation, Juan Carlos Alvarez, said Tuesday in Luanda.
In addition to these, there are two other regional World Bank projects underway, namely the Regional Program to Improve Disease Surveillance Systems (REDISSE IV), worth 60 million dollars, and the Agricultural Productivity Project for Southern Africa, valued at 25 million dollars, for a total of 85 million dollars.
Speaking during a meeting with journalists, in which the World Bank presented its portfolio of projects in Angola, Alvarez said there are two other projects yet to be approved.
Projects under implementation (2017-2029)
These include the second Water Sector Development Project (PDISA2), approved in March 2017 and scheduled to close in December 2024, with a total value of 350 million US dollars.
There is also the Commercial Agriculture Project (PDAC), from 2018 to 2025, worth 98.4 million US dollars, and the Health Systems Strengthening Project (PFSS), from 2018 to 2024, worth 110 million dollars.
The World Bank is also financing the Electricity Sector Improvement Project, started from 2021 to 2026, worth 250 million US dollars, the Girls' Empowerment Project (PAT-2), from 2021 to 2025, worth 250 million US dollars, the Social Protection Strengthening Project (KWENDA-Income Transfer), from 2019 to 2024, worth 320 million dollars.
It also includes the COVID-19 Strategic Response Project (2021 to 2024), worth 150 million US dollars, the Climate Resilience Project (RECLIMA), from 2022 to 2028, worth 300 million dollars, the Small Farmers Support Project (MOSAP-2), from 2022 to 2029, financed with 300 million dollars, as well as the Economic Diversification Acceleration Project, from 2023 to 2029, worth 300 million dollars.
The portfolio also includes the Project to Strengthen Local Governance (2022 to 2027), worth 60 million dollars, and the Project to Strengthen Statistical Development (2022 to 2027), worth 60 million dollars.
It encompasses the Higher Education Project (2023 to 2028), worth 150 million dollars, the Budget Support and Policy Development Operation (2023 to 2024), worth 500 million dollars, and the Human Resources Strengthening Project (2023 to 2028), worth 200 million dollars. HM/VC/AMP
