Benguela hosts meeting of SADC Banking Supervision Subcommittee

Luanda - The province of Benguela hosts from 26 to 28 February the biannual meeting of the Subcommittee on Banking Supervision and Financial Stability of the Committee of Central Bank Governors (CCBG) in the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

According to a note from the Central Bank of Angola (BNA), the meeting will evaluate the implementation of the strategic actions defined for the 2023-2026 period, with emphasis on the assessment of financial stability at a regional level, with a view to identifying vulnerabilities in financial systems.

The event will also analyze topics related to the implementation of the recommendations of the International Financial Action Group on preventing and combating money laundering, terrorist financing and prevention of weapons of mass destruction, the fundamental principles for effective banking supervision, established by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), as well as cross-border banking supervision.

The framework for resolving and managing cross-border crises, macroprudential policy, the harmonization of banking regulation and supervision tools, the provision of information on credit liability and the development of banking regulation and supervision technologies are also included in the debate program.

The meeting, held in a rotational way, due to the defined decisions by the Committee of Central Bank Governors in SADC (CCBG), is being attended by experts in issues on banking supervision and financial stability of the SADC Central Banks, including experts from the Bank of England.
