Luanda - The Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX) and the Belgium-Africa Chamber of Commerce (CBL-ACP) discussed Friday the business climate in Angola and the steps underway to boost the economy, despite the current context.

The representatives of both countries that took part in the event, which was held via a webinar, highlighted the existence of confidence for investments in various sectors of the Angolan economy.

The reforms underway in Angola, with emphasis on encouraging diversification of the economy and all efforts to improve the business environment, were highlighted at this event.

The Angolan ambassador in Brussels, Mário de Azevedo Constantino, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Luanda, Jozef Smets, the AIPEX CEO, António Henriques da Silva and the president of the Angolan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vicente Soares, were the speakers at the meeting.

According to the speakers, the excellent bilateral relations established between the two countries are also contributing to the economic sector, which is slowing down due to the current world context.

The Belgian ambassador to Angola, Jozef Smets, shared his recent experience in the interior of Angola, in the provinces of Cuanza Sul, Benguela, Huila and Namibe, where he noted a logic of diversification of the economy, having noticed potential in the agri-industry, mining and energy, water and tourism sectors.

According to the diplomat, the international community, especially the European Union, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) maintained confidence in Angola.

The chairman of the AIPEX board, António Henriques da Silva, reiterated the existence of business opportunities in Angola, as well as tax incentives, which provide a more favourable business environment for investors and businesspeople in general.
