Luanda – Over 718, 64 billion kwanzas have been effectively disbursed to the real sector of the economy, since 2019, by commercial banks via the Bank of Angola (BNA) instructions, said today the deputy director of the Credit Monitoring Office of the Central Bank of Angola (BNA), Ângela Nunes.
Speaking during the cycle of conferences held at the 37th edition of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA), which is being held from 16 to 20 July, in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), she said that these were the notices 4/2019, 10/2020 and 10/2022, whose amounts refer to the period from 2019 to May 2022.
Ângela Nunes said that the highlight was 34.92 percent of the credit portfolio to the real sector of the economy, (206 billion kwanzas) and 7.73 percent of the total credit portfolio (9.29 trillion kwanzas), in May 2022.
According to the source, the number of projects is around 48.
The amount disbursed made it possible to create 40,823 new jobs, created with funding granted under the terms and conditions of the notices, to boost credit to the real sector, particularly in the beverages industry, food and agriculture sectors.
She also said that the BNA expected to disburse, by February 2023, around 265 new loans to the real economy.
This 37th edition of the International Luanda Fair brings together 629 national exhibitors and 15 foreign ones. The event is promoted by the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP), in partnership with the company Eventos Arena.
In 2021, FILDA brought together over 300 exhibitors represented by 18 countries and focussed on the technology sector, which supports the development of agribusiness and industry.
The first Luanda International Fair was held in 1983, 39 years ago.
