Lobito – The Angolan Investment Bank (BAI) reached the number of 47 authorized agents on Tuesday, in the province of Benguela, licensing one more, in the municipality of Catumbela.

Speaking to ANGOP, BAI spokesperson, Jacob Higino, stated that this investment has had a huge impact on the lives of the population, due to the facilitation of several services that were previously only provided at the bank's branches.

"This involves opening an account, withdrawing and depositing funds, processing a debit/credit card and the BAI Directo app", he explained.

According to him, it can also make transfers, payments for services, remittances and credit.

Jacob Higino highlighted that at this season of school enrollment, authorized agents make life easier for students by paying the Single Reference Payment to the State (RUPE) and also citizens in general, with the payment of TV signal, water, electricity and other services.

"The population wins because they have services nearby and the bank because it reduces the number of customers at the branches, thus being able to have quick service without protocols", he stated.

Regarding the requirements for the authorized agent to obtain the license, he must have a company incorporated, be linked to BAI and complete other steps that are part of the indicated "check list".

A computer or tablet, a mobile printer and an Automatic Payment Terminal (TPA) are the equipment that the authorized agent needs to work.

In turn, the new agency owner in the commune of Gama, Angelina Palma, said expectations are high, because it will be able to serve a lot of people without them needing to travel long distances to deal with any matter linked to the Bank.

She explained she and an employee received two weeks of in-person training and another online training, covering several transactions and banking ethics.

“We will do our best to comply with the rules to meet demand,” she stated.TC/CRB/CF/DOJ
