Luanda - The African Development Bank (AfDB) has said it plans to make available 160 million US dollars for the implementation of programmes to promote grain production, cattle breeding and fisheries, ANGOP has learnt.
The Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) and the AfDB discussed Monday the bank's plans to make the aforementioned amount available, which could be disbursed in two tranches, 100 million this year, and the remaining 60 million in 2024.
The issue was discussed during a meeting with Secretary of State for Economy, Ivan Marques dos Santos,the director of the AfDB Country Program, Yolanda Arcelina, accompanied by the economist, James Opio-Omoding and director for Youth Employment, Grace Obeda along with several other Angolan government officials.
The meeting takes place at a time when the AfDB mission has begun technical consultation work to structure projects to support skills, employability, entrepreneurship and the development of small and medium-sized companies.
According to the MEP, the objective is to train entrepreneurs in business management, financial literacy and digital entrepreneurship, especially aimed at agribusiness.
The Ministry's press release says that the idea is also to strengthen the Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI), the sustainability of the transition from informality to formality through microcredit and business incubation programmes. HEM/AC/CF/AMP
