Luanda - The African Development Bank (AfDB) assured on Thursday, in Luanda, the increase of its financing portfolio from 1.2 to 1.5 million dollars, until 2029, with a view to supporting the strategic plan launched in partnership with the Angolan government.
According to the vice-president of AfDB, Marie-Laure Akin-Olugbade, the bank's strategy, for the next five years, is to support the Government of Angola in implementing the National Development Plan, particularly in priority sectors.
The manager, who was speaking on the occasion of the launch of the “Angola National Strategic Plan 2024-2029”, as part of the celebration of AfDB's 60th anniversary, highlighted that the institution's actions will essentially focus on supporting the agricultural sector, with the focus on agribusiness, to facilitate the process of diversification of Angola's economy.
In turn, the Minister of Planning, Victor Guilherme, requested the need for AfDB support to be more extensive to the national private sector, through financing and instruction in the preparation mechanisms for bankable projects.
According to the official, the country needs financing for technical assistance and implementation of projects that contribute to the growth and development of committed national staff, with greater emphasis on the private sector of the economy.
This fact, he explains, will allow economic operators to have easy access to financing, occupying a prominent position in the development of business initiatives.
For this purpose, he said, the country's strategic plan plays a fundamental role, as it identifies key sectors for national development, with the maximum commitment of everyone to materialize structuring projects, specifically in the agriculture, energy, water and transport sectors. OPF/QCB/DOJ
