Luanda - A memorandum of understanding to speed up land concession processes along the Lobito Corridor was signed on Friday in Luanda between the management of the “Diversifica Mais” Project and the Geographical and Cadastral Institute of Angola (IGCA).

Signed by the directors of the respective institutions, namely Laércio Cândido, for the project, and Conceição Cristóvão, from the geographical institute, the document consists, among others, of providing technical and transport means to the IGCA, in order to strengthen its capacity to act in that area, in favor of boosting the economic diversification program underway in the country.

The optimisation of the services provided by the Office to businesses and entrepreneurs in this field is also one of the objectives of the agreement.

On the occasion, there was the formal delivery of computer and geodetic equipment, in addition to four vehicles (Toyota), in an act attended by the Secretaries of State for Public Investment, Ivan dos Santos, and for Urbanism and Housing, Manuel Canguezeze.

In his speech, Secretary Ivan dos Santos said that the agreement established is part of the strategy to improve the business environment in the country, through the creation of favorable conditions for institutions.

As for the Diversifica Mais Project, he reiterated that it is expected to issue three thousand and 600 surface titles, by the end of it, scheduled for 2029, 53% of which will be destined exclusively to companies owned by women and 15% to large companies.

In turn, Manuel Canguezeze pointed out that this enhancement of the IGCA will allow greater speed in the process of registration, registration and concession of land in the provinces covered by the Lobito Corridor, namely Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Moxico.

In his opinion, it is necessary to add more and more value to the cadastral institute to face the current challenges, with modern technological means.

'Diversifica Mais' is a project led by the Ministry of Planning that aims to increase private investment and the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in non-oil value chains, particularly in the Lobito Corridor.

Its implementation is the responsibility of the ministries of Transport, Industry and Commerce, Justice and Human Rights, Public Works, Urbanism and Housing.

The Lobito Corridor involves a set of road and rail infrastructures, the latter of which crosses the national territory of Lobito, in the province of Benguela, to Luau (Moxico), passes through the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and reaches Zambia. ACC/VC/DOJ
