Cabinda – Several products from the basic food basket were seized on Tuesday, by the Border Guard police in the province of Cabinda, due to attempted illegal export to the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The information was provided by the spokesperson for the National Police in Cabinda, Intendant Marcos Coxito, highlighting that the products were seized following a routine patrol carried out on the land border that separates the two neighboring countries, in the regions of Yema (Cabinda) and Mwanda (Central Congo).
According to the officer, 100 boxes of tomato paste, 20 boxes of frozen fish (sardines), 28 boxes of cooking oil and 25 bags of sugar weighing 50 kg each were seized.
The police also seized 1,500 boxes of detergents, 33 mattresses, 5 toilets and 11,000 liters of fuel, which were being transported by two Mitsubishi Canter vehicles.
He said that three national citizens had been arrested and accused of the illicit export of basic food products and fuel smuggling. JFC/JL/CF/DOJ
