Mbanza-Kongo – The customs police in the municipality of Soyo, Zaire Province, seized in the early hours of Wednesday, Oct 9, a homemade boat loaded with 2,280 liters of fuel, which was destined for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The spokesperson for the National Police in Zaire, lieutenant Luís Bernardo, stated to ANGOP, that the seizure occurred at around 4:35 am in one of the river channels in the village of Kikuilo, commune of Sumba.
He explained that there are 1,650 liters of gasoline and 630 liters of diesel packed in containers with a capacity of up to 250 liters.
Luís Bernardo informed that the boat, found without an engine, was discovered following a patrol with a speedboat, carried out by personnel from the Maritime and River customs police officers of the municipality of Soyo.
The owners of the products fled.
The seized product was handed over to the Customs Delegation of the 1st Tax Region in the municipality of Soyo, for legal procedures.
