Luanda - The National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) and Sonangol Exploration and Production will start a prospecting action to collect geological data on the onshore blocks of the Kwanza Basin from September.
This is the contracting of a specialized service for the acquisition of gravimetric and magnetometric data in the onshore blocks of the Kwanza Basin, which covers the provinces of Luanda, Malanje and Cuanza-Norte, namely the KON-11, KON-12 and KON-15 blocks, according to a press release to which ANGOP had access this Thursday.
According to the document, the first part of the contract comprises the collection and processing of data, with a duration of 45 days.
The data to be acquired will allow the identification of variations in the properties of the rocks, indicating the presence of geological structures that may contain oil and other hydrocarbons in the light of the exploration strategy carried out by the ANPG.
The project, which will be implemented by the Striped-Horse and Metatek consortium, uses Airborne and FTG technology to collect key data for the elaboration of high-resolution geophysical maps.
The collection will be done using a specialized aircraft, which guarantees an operation with less impact on the environment. The final results of the study will be delivered by the consortium in the first quarter of 2025.
The campaign represents a significant advance in the commitment to map and understand regional geology, in addition to assessing the prospective potential of the blocks operated (KON 11 and KON 12) and to be operated (KON 15) by Sonangol Exploration & Production in the Kwanza Onshore Basin.
