Luanda- Nine blocks in the Lower Congo and Kwanza basins will be put up for international tender for the award of new oil concessions in Angola, announced National Petroleum, Gas and Biofuel Agency (ANPG).
The tender covers CON1, CON5 and CON6 blocks in the Lower Congo basin and KON5, KON6, KON8, KON9, KON17 and KON20 blocks of the Kwanza basin.
Those interested in participating are required to pay an entry fee of USD 1 million to allow access to data packages related to the basins to be bid, according to ANPG CEO, Paulino Jerónimo.
Paulino Jerónimo was quoted as saying that “this 2020 bid aims to re-launch the exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the onshore areas of the referred basins, reduce the decline in production, by increasing exploration and discovery of the new resources.
"It will also stimulate the local creation of small and medium oil companies, promote the incorporation of skilled work force, as well as foster technological innovation and good governance practices”, said that statement.
The tender advances 120 days after the publication of the pre-announcement, on April 30, 2021.
The deadline for the submission of proposals runs until June 9, 2021, in compliance with the 40 days provided by law, with tender opening ceremony set for 10 June 2021.
