Viana – The National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA), on Wednesday, in Luanda, launched a campaign called “Operation Festive Season”, with the aim of preventing speculative bubble by traders.
The process which will run until January 10, 2025, across the country, also aims to adopt measures to prevent and combat fraudulent practices in the marketing of food products.
In this regard, the head of ANIESA's food safety department, António Maria, said that 30 brigades were created, with 80 employees, made up officials from the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), the Criminal Administrative Offenses Directorate (DIIP) and from the provincial Integrated Economic Development offices.
Speaking to the press, he said that, during the festive period, ANIESA and its partners will inspect the largest number of food companies, assess the quality of products in stock and in transit, verify compliance with the commercial chain, as well as analyze and monitor the import processes of high consumption goods.
He pointed out the failure to present the acquisition facts, the lack of hygiene design and structure and the poor conservation of food items as the most frequent infractions in Angolan commercial activity.
António Maria warned that violators will be fined and companies that sell products that put consumers' lives at risk will have their activities suspended.

The official also appealed to consumers to pay attention to product labelling, which must be written in Portuguese, check the details and whether the price on the shelf corresponds to the invoice, to safeguard their rights and guarantees.
He added that in case of complaints, consumers can call the cellphone numbers 949851561 / 949851271 / 929515101.
He recalled that, in 2023, Operation festive season recorded 528 inspection visits, which resulted in the finding of 996 infractions of diverse nature.
