Luanda - Angola Transport minister Ricardo D'Abreu praised on Saturday the Southern African nation's cooperation with Brazil in the transport sector, covering the aviation, ports and maritime activities.
The Angolan minister, quoted by a statement from the Ministry of Transport, stressed that cooperation between the two countries is relevant, long-standing and extremely useful for Angola.
Ricardo d'Abreu expressed this view at the end of a meeting with a Brazilian delegation headed by Juliano Norman, National Secretary for Civil Aviation of Brazil Ministry of Ports and Airports.
The statement adds that the Brazilian delegation was in Luanda within the framework of the 12th Meeting of the Lusophone Civil Aviation Authorities Communities held on June 19-21 in Angolan capital, Luanda.
It is "a cooperation that goes beyond the field of civil aviation and extends to port activity, land transportation, and maritime activity", the minister said.
Currently, the National Maritime Agency has an ongoing advisory programme with Brazil's EMGEPRON, with a view to eliminating non-conformities related to the International Maritime Organization.
In the aviation segment, Brazil has been of vital importance for the commercial operation of the Angolan airlines TAAG, specifically for cargo services to Asia.
"Angola and Brazil face similar challenges and problems in the field of civil aviation", said the national secretary of Civil Aviation, of the Ministry of Ports and Airports of Brazil, Juliano Norman.
The Brazilian government official said that both countries can learn from each other if they emphasize joint work and exchange of experiences.
