Lubango – The National Integrated Ticketing Company (ENBI) recently presented a proposal to the National Transport Agency (ANT) to remove payment for tickets in cash on board public urban buses, using the GiraMais pass as an alternative.
The objective is to reduce revenue evasion, a fact that greatly affects public transport operators and which can help solve the problem of small bills of change, which often makes it difficult for passengers to get stuck.
According to ENBI's executive administrator, Pedro Pereira, who was speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the launch of regular GiraMais passes for the general public in Huíla, operators have been making losses with the transaction of cash on board, mainly due to the direct involvement of drivers and collectors at reception.
The administrator highlighted that with the pass, the user will not only have access to urban buses, but also to trains and within an integration process it is planned to include taxi drivers in the strategy.
Pedro Pereira highlighted that in the 2025 financial year, ticketing services are expected to be extended to seven more provinces in the country, with the same objective.
Until the regular pass presented today, in Lubango, ENBI issued two types of GiraMais cards, those for students, with 60 trips per month, and those for former combatants, which is unlimited.
The country is producing a huge number of passes for the provinces of Luanda, Benguela, Huambo Malanje, Cabinda and Huíla. So far, 16.576 GiraMais cards have been issued to students and 6.431 to Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland.
Data from the Huíla provincial Transport, Traffic and Urban Mobility Office has controlled eight operators that operate 81 buses. MS/CF/DOJ
