Luanda – The country has recorded an inflation of 12,12% in July which represents a decrease of 9,28% compared to the same period of 2022.
According to the National consumer price índex published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the current year variation with that recorded in July indicates an acceleration of 0.87 percentage points.
The INE states that Lunda Sul (0,95%), Cabinda (0,97%) and Cuando Cubango (1,01%), are among the provinces which registered less variation in prices, while Luanda (2,18%), Namibe (1,38%) and Cunene (1,36%) are the provinces with greater variation.
The health sector registered a greater variation of prices of 2,05% with emphasis on the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages with 1,91%, goods and services with 1,86% and clothing and footwear with 1,69%.
The Consumer Price Index for the province of Luanda recorded a variation of 2.18% from June to July 2023.
Comparing the monthly variations (June to July 2023) there is an acceleration of 0.49% while, in year-on-year terms (July 2022 to July 2023), there is an acceleration in the current rate of change of 1.47%.
The category Food and non-alcoholic beverages registered the highest price increase with 2.73%.
There are also highlights in the increase of prices in goods and different services with 2,59%, health with2,45% and clothing and footwear with 2,09%.
The Quick Information Sheet (FIR) of the National Consumer Price Index (IPCN) presents expenditure on goods and services that served as the basis for building the IPCN weights and product basket.
Data extracted from the results of the Survey on Expenditure and Revenue (IDR) carried out by INE, from February 2018 to March 2019, covering urban and rural areas of all provinces, in a total of 12,448 households.
