Angola maintains economic reforms for sustainable growth

Luanda - Angolan minister of State for Economic Coordination José de Lima Massano reiterated Friday the country’s engagement in maintaining the course of reforms that contribute to the sustainable and inclusive economic growth of the country.

José de Lima Massano said Angola maintains a course of reform that tends to improve the business environment, laying down a macro-economic framework capable of offering stability and predictability, a legal system that provides security to business and market rules that favour healthy competition, competitiveness and innovation.

Speaking at the opening of the Angola-China Business Forum, taking place in Luanda, he said  that a set of measures to stimulate and boost the real economy - goods made in Angola in public investment projects - had recently been announced.

“Despite depending heavily on oil sector, we have privileged natural conditions for the development of a broad and diversified economy, a broad development base with an emphasis on food security that will make it possible to give consistency to the objectives of sustainable development, both meeting the citizens’ needs or creating more opportunities for income generation and social inclusion,” he underlined.

According to the official, the binomial between economic growth and social development is the condition of the sustainability of nations, telling the participants that during the strengthening of business actions and formation of new partnerships to play the social role attributed to them, as business women and men.

In his speech, the official urged the participating companies to make investments and acquire the knowledge in order to gain new markets for operating opportunities, boost partnerships.

Investments and knowledge, he added, will allow more investment in food production for the provision of housing for the manufacturing industry, commerce, development of logistics chains, development support,  ore exploration and professional training.

Trade between Angola and China

The Chinese ambassador Gong Thao, who was also speaking at the opening ceremony, said  the trade volume between Angola and Chine reached more than USD 24 billion last year. MAG/PPA/CF/NIC
