Soyo - The Liquefied Gas Processing Plant (Angola LNG), located in Soyo municipality, northern Zaire province, is expected to reach its peak production in 2025, from the current 700 million to 1 billion cubic feet daily output.
According to the executive director of the plant, Amilton Cunha, who briefed ANGOP on Wednesday, the increase in production will result from some investments underway and an increase in the volume of associated and non-associated gas to be supplied to the plant.
Amilton Cunha said the industrial complex will receive more associated and non-associated gas, either from oil platforms located offshore or from other consortia.
‘The commitment of our government, through the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, as well as the support of the company's shareholders Sonangol, Total Energy, Chevron, Azul Energy and others have served as incentives for the development of the plant,’ he said.
Cunha said the Angola LNG Plant produces high quality metric volumes, whose production currently allows around 50 ships loaded with this product per month to be placed on the world market.
"We are a plant that supplies liquefied gas, which is transitional energy. So we have a strong component in our country in supplying clean gas to all parts of the world,’ Cunha said.
He said the company has an entity in London (England) responsible for commercializing the finished product and that Angola LNG is responsible for all the domestic gas consumed in the country, with production of around 125 million cubic meters per day.
He explained that this volume of butane gas is transferred to the company Sonagás, which is responsible for developing the domestic gas market in the country.
Angola Liquefied Natural Gas project is one of the largest energy projects on the African continent and is Angola's first liquefied natural gas project.
Available data show that the first shipment of gas was made on June 15, 2013, followed by a period of stoppage, which resumed in May 2016.
