Luanda - The Turkish ambassador to Angola, Ufuk Ekici, on Tuesday in the Province of Luanda, said that diplomatic relations between the two countries had evolved very quickly in the first 10 years of such ties.
Speaking at the end of a working visit to the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP), the diplomat stressed that bilateral cooperation relations had become even more dynamic following the exchange of state visits between the two countries in the second half of 2021.
The diplomat said that the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, and the Turkish President, Tayyip Erdogan, visited each other about two years ago, which resulted in the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.
He revealed that Turkey is new to the southern African region, since its embassy was opened in Angola in 2010, while the Angolan embassy in Turkey was opened in 2011, although in just 10 years relations between the two countries have developed very quickly.
Ufuk Ekici considers this scenario to be a good sign, given that there are great opportunities and potential for co-operation in all sectors.
He therefore expressed his country's interest in exchanging experiences with Angola in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation, as part of a two-way exchange in which both states can gain.
The official said that Türkiye wants to cooperate with Angola in all possible areas that the embassy has been investigating, before inviting his country's authorities and businesspeople to start negotiations.
The ambassador said that there are many areas of interest and business opportunities for Turkish companies in Angola, from energy to agriculture and from the textile industry to commerce, including the mining and infrastructure sectors and the Lobito Corridor.
