Luanda- Angola and Mozambique signed Friday a cooperation protocol to strengthen institutional capacities to assist the business class.

The agreement was signed by National Institute for the Support of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM) and the Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises of Mozambique (IPEME).

The deal foresees, among others, the strengthening of institutional competences to provide support to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the various fields of their activity.

The chairperson of the Board of Directors of INAPEM João Nkosi signed for Angola while the director general of IPEME Joaquina Gumeta did so on behalf of Mozambique.

At the end of the ceremony, the CEO of INAPEM said that the institute is, within the scope of a commitment that the Angolan Government signed with the African Development Bank (BDA), to trigger a process that aims to allow the development, in partnership with counterparts, of actions that give it visibility.

In view of Angola’s experience, the CEO said, concrete actions were also defined, such as the possibility of training IPEME staff, supporting business promotion activities.

The official also spoke of valuing the startups, which INAPEM has developed, as well as the Service Made in Angola (SFA), aimed to enhance national production.

João Nkosi said that this protocol opens the door to other commitments at the level of the CPLP (Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries), or works that could also culminate in the signing of protocols.

In turn, the director general of IPEME in Mozambique, Joaquina Gumeta, said that the protocol constitutes an added value, as 99 percent of the economy of the two countries is ensured by micro, small and medium-sized companies.

On the relations between the two peoples and governments, the director of IPEME considered them excellent, but defended the need to raise economic and commercial relations to the level of political and diplomatic relations. JAM/PPA/NIC
