Luanda – Angola was honored, last Wednesday, with the award for best programming in the large pavilion category at Expo 2023 Doha, which took place from October 2nd last year to March 28th 2024, in Qatar's capital.

According to the certificate granted to the country, the award represents Angola's efforts to significantly improve engaging content, with innovative programs, including cultural and B2B (electronic business between companies) activities, aligned with the themes and objectives of the Expo.

It states that this recognition reflects not only the excellence of Angola's programming at the Expo, but also the commitment and dedication of the team at the pavilion in providing a memorable and enriching experience for visitors.

The award was presented by the general commissioner of Expo, Barber Bin Oma Al-Dafa, to the general commissioner of Angola for Expo 2023 Doha - Qatar, Albina Assis Africano, in the presence of the president of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE), Alain Berguer, and the organization's general secretary, Dimitry Kerkentzes.

In an interview with the local press, Albina Assis Africano expressed gratitude for the distinction and said it was the result of hard teamwork, carried out with professionalism and care by the technicians present in the pavilion and the country in general.

“Our country’s mission is clear. It is essentially about strengthening cooperation ties and attracting investors from countries with potential that interest Angola, something that, by their nature, international exhibitions provide,” she said.

During the ceremony, witnessed by more than 4k people, including diplomats, businesspeople and other personalities, others were also awarded in different categories.

President, Alain Berguer, and his Secretary General Dimitry Kerkentzes, saw their effort of around six months’ pay off.

Angola inaugurated its pavilion at the International Horticultural Exhibition – Expo 2023 Doha on November 14, 2023 and celebrated National Day on February 4.
