Luanda - The Republic of Angola took over this week in Brazil the presidency of the Fiscal Council of the General Assembly of the Association of African Portuguese Speaking Countries (PALOP), the body that brings together the organisations responsible for managing, registering and maintaining Lusophone domains in Africa.
According to a press release sent this Friday to ANGOP, the country will hold this presidency for a period of four years.
Angola's presidency was assumed during the general assembly of this body, which was attended by the Angolan delegation from the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Social Communication, made up of the director of the Institute for the Promotion of the Information Society, Matias Borges, and the national director of Telecommunications, André Pedro.
The two directors also took part in the first Lusophone Internet Governance Forum, which took place from the 18-19 September in São Paulo city, Brazil.
During this event, which brought together specialists from organisations responsible for managing, registering and maintaining domains, as well as companies and universities from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Portugal and São Tomé and Príncipe, the participants reflected on topics such as "Portuguese on the Internet", "Artificial Intelligence" and "Initiatives in Portuguese for digital training and internet governance".
During the event was also launched the initiative to produce a small "Lusophone Internet Almanac".
