Luanda – Angola displayed early this week in Basel, Switzerland, the potential of the Lobito Corridor and the country’s agricultural sector as two of the business opportunities it has to attract investment from this European country.
In addition to this potential, Angola's chargé d'affaires in that country, Estêvão Alberto, said the country also offers business opportunities in waste management, mining and processing industry, civil construction and public works.
Quoted in a press release sent to ANGOP Saturday, the minister Alberto highlighted Angola's potential in telecommunications, information technology and innovation, transportation, electricity production and distribution, hotels and tourism, education, health and urban planning, among others, as different economic opportunities and a sign of progress in the country's business ecosystem.
Speaking at an event organized by the Swiss-African Business Circle, the diplomat spoke about Angola's desire to see companies from that European country set up in the country, offering job opportunities for many citizens, especially young people.
The diplomat stressed that the country has robust legal provisions to protect investments by Swiss companies in Angola, highlighting the importance of the new Private Investment Law, which enshrines a set of incentives, tax benefits and guarantees the repatriation of profits.
During the event organized under the motto "Investing in Africa's future - Highlighting large-scale projects' ', the diplomat interacted with the Swiss business community, conveying Angola's economic potential as a destination of excellence for direct private investment by business people in various sectors.
With the participation of ambassadors from African countries accredited to Switzerland and Swiss ambassadors in Africa, as well as more than 300 private companies from this European country, the Switzerland - Africa Business Circle is the main independent association that promotes business contacts and links between the two sides, with the high patronage of the Switzerland Government’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
Held annually, the circle provides its members with an influential network and a unique platform dedicated to the exchange of knowledge, experiences, projects and ideas, thus promoting partnerships and opening up new business prospects. CPM/QCB/MRA/AMP
