Luanda - Trade relations between Angola and Portugal can be accelerated in the near future through the application of private investment Portuguese in the Lobito Corridor and other infrastructures aimed at Angolan economic diversification, the Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, said on Tuesday.
In an interview with Forbes Lusophone Africa, on the sidelines of the 2nd edition of the 'Doing Business Angola 2024' forum, which took place in Lisbon, Portugal, the Angolan official said that the relations of the two countries remain on the right track, having the capacity to respond to the challenge of diversifying the country's economy.
He said that the work carried out by the Angolan Government over the last few years has been to ensure a robust transport and logistics sector, with operational capacity and security, a fact that has guaranteed the attraction of major world operators.
'We were able to arouse the interest of the major international transport and logistics operators to Angola, which in the maritime and port domain, both in the airport and aeronautics, which is being an asset for the country,' he added.
According to Ricardo de Abreu, in addition to ensuring the integration of the Angolan economy and infrastructure in the context of international trade and cargo transport, it is also possible to develop the domestic maritime sector, especially in cabotage projects, an important segment for boosting the economy.
The 2nd edition of the 'Doing Business Angola 2024' forum served to analyze the potential of Angolan as a gateway to the SADC (Southern African Development Community) space and to reflect on the role that the country's major infrastructures play in the development of this regional bloc.
