Luanda - At least US $14.5 million were invested by the Anglobal Group in the installation of metal mechanics and metal galvanizing units, one of which was inaugurated today in the Luanda/Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE).
The industrial steel unit, called “Galvostahl”, is the first in Angola and will work on coating iron and steel parts with zinc, a noble metal against the corrosion process.
The investment, shared with a banking institution in Angola, will allow the inauguration, in the second half of the current year, of the metalworking industrial unit, which will support "Galvostahl", contributing to the reduction of import costs.
According to the chairman of the Group's Administrative Council, Victor Lima, the units have an installed capacity of 300 tonnes/year, which can increase to up to 900 tonnes/year, depending on market needs.
This initiative, he said, will increase the response capacity, provide autonomy in the construction of telecommunications towers, high, medium and low voltage energy transport, lighting posts, as well as in the civil construction sector.
Victor Lima said that this investment demonstrates the belief in local capacity and will contribute to reducing the need for importing this type of material, with a direct impact on the need for payments in foreign currencies.
The businessman said that the investment created 161 jobs, in a first phase, mostly employees who transferred from the previous management, with plans to increase in the future, contributing to the socio-economic development of the different areas of Africa, where the group operates.
