Dundo – The director of the 7th region of the General Tax Administration (AGT), Paulo João, announced this Tuesday the installation of new technological systems at border posts in the municipality of Cambulo, in Lunda Norte province, to improve customs inspection.
Speaking to the press, regarding cross-border trade, Paulo João said that the new systems are being installed at the Tchicolondo, Furi-3 and Marco-28 border posts.
He explained that the measure aims to allow the entire tax process and the registration of goods to be carried out from the border posts, with no need for traders to travel to the city of Dundo for this purpose.
The General Tax Administration intends, with this investment, to improve the communication system, increase the volume of tax revenues and combat tax evasion.
He informed that the conclusion of the process of installing the systems is scheduled for the end of the current month.
On the other hand, he said that the Government is working toward to reopening of borders, a fact that will contribute, to a large extent, to the increase in customs revenue in the province of Lunda Norte.
Due to Covid-19, the Angolan Government, within the scope of prevention measures, had to lock down lands, rivers and air borders.
With 770 kilometers of border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the province of Lunda Norte has about 20 border posts spread out in the municipalities of Cuango, Caungula, Chitato, Cuilo and Cambulo.
