Benguela – The digital transformation on family farming in Angola and the financial inclusion of rural producers are the expected gains from the partnership made official, on Wednesday, in the central Benguela Province, between telecom company Africell and Carrinho Busines Group.
At stake are a series of strategic agreements for a multisectoral partnership between the two companies, which intend to develop the Lobito Corredor project and promote the country's economic and social growth.
The partnership between Africell and Carrinho Group is structured around four main axes, which cover key sectors of the Angolan economy, such as agriculture, commerce, distribution and mobility.
To this end, the agreements, with a renewable duration of one year, involve Africell Angola and Afrimoney, as well as the Carrinho Group's business units, namely Carrinho Trade and Carrinho Agri.
However, the agricultural transformation program, carried out by Carrinho Agri, has already benefited 150,000 family producers, thus allowing them to transition from subsistence farming to agribusiness.
Speaking at the ceremony to formalize the aforementioned agreements, the Africell Group's Partnership Administrator, Robert Rollman, believes that the multisectoral partnership between the two companies aims to boost the Angolan economy and bring benefits along the Lobito Corridor.
Robert Rollman states that if, on the one hand, Africell is making investments in telecommunications infrastructure along this railway route, on the other, Carrinho Group is also investing, with its eyes set on exporting its products.
Financial inclusion
The general director of the Afrimoney digital platform, Kátia da Conceição, who was present at the event, expressed her optimism regarding the financial inclusion of small family producers in rural areas, who are already seen working with Carrinho Agri.
“There is no better company to talk about agriculture than Carrinho Group”, he highlighted, explaining that Africell approached the company so that it can be possible to present the advantages of the Afrimoney service in agriculture.
According to her, agriculture is not only a vector of development for the country, but also for communities.
The Afrimoney manager calls attention to the fact that rural producers are not included in the financial system, hence the importance of this partnership.
In addition to adding value to Carrinho Agri's work in rural areas, it highlights the benefits of Afrimoney for family farmers, bringing efficiency and ease to money transactions.
Sustainable development
For the CEO of Carrinho Agri, David Maciel, this partnership with Africell and Afrimoney represents, essentially a commitment to the sustainable and inclusive development of Angolan rural communities.
Knowing that farmers, especially in the most remote areas, face major challenges in accessing bank financial services, David Maciel praises the integration of Afrimoney's digital money solutions.
“We are creating new opportunities so that these producers can not only transact more efficiently, but also strengthen their economic power”, he highlighted.
