Ndalatando – The Access Bank Angola has disbursed, since January this year, more than 6.4 billion kwanzas, to finance private investment initiatives in various sectors of the country's economy, the bank's northern region coordinator, Valdir do Rosário revealed Wednesday in Ndalatando, northern Cuanza-Norte Province.
It is a commercial bank operating in Angola, having adopted the name Access Bank Angola, S.A. in January of the current year.
Previously it was called Finibanco Angola S.A. and was founded in 2007 as a public limited company incorporated under the laws of Angola, with private Angolan and foreign capital.
Speaking to ANGOP, the bank official clarified that the amount is part of a package of 13.4 billion kwanzas made available by the institution to finance several investment initiatives this year.
He added that the bank institution is currently represented in the provinces of Luanda, Huíla, Benguela and Huambo, and has activities focused on financing businesses in the automotive, trade, real estate, agriculture, industry, fishing and other sectors.
Valdir do Rosário said that Access Bank is also focus on financing social actions and environmental projects, especially cleaning and collecting solid waste on Luanda's beaches.
The bank's northern region coordinator also mentioned that, as part of the business expansion initiative, they will also maintain a partnership with the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women (MASFAMU), which aims to reinforce the financial inclusion of rural women, through the opening of accounts simplified and access to credit for investment.
In this sense, a delegation of bank technicians are in Cuanza-Norte Province for a training session on the importance of opening a bank account for financial inclusion aimed at women who are organized in associations and peasant cooperatives.
Valdir do Rosário said that after opening the bank accounts, that bank will clarify to beneficiaries the criteria for accessing bank credit and adhering to the various financial packages intended for the acquisition of inputs, work equipment and agricultural machinery.
The training is part of the workshop focused on the financial inclusion of rural women, which took place from the 14th to the 16th of this month, in Ndalatando, as part of the celebrations of the 15th of October which marks the International Day of Rural Women, established by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution 62/136 of 18 December 2007.
However, in the training that addressed topics on the creation of cooperatives and opportunities to access agricultural credit, more than 100 women organized in peasant cooperatives and individuals from the province's ten municipalities participated.
