Luanda – Luanda’s 11 de Novembro Stadium was once again closed Thursday to undergo a facelift in the next few days, the National Director for Sports Policy, Nicolau Daniel said Thursday.

Speaking to the press, in Luanda, Nicolau Daniel said the start and end of the work would be announced after obtaining a report from the company managing the stadium.

Since it was inaugurated in 2010 to host the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN`2010), the property has been successively closed for works as recommended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspections.

In October 2021, for example, the stadium had been banned from holding international matches to undergo facelift, which also happened in January.

Thirteen years after it was built, the 11 de Novembro stadium has identified various problems in its structure, such as cracks in the pillars and walls, problems in the elevators and press cabins.

The Tundavala stadium, in Huíla Province, will be the alternative for international matches relating to the participation of Petro Luanda in the African Super League and the national team's qualifiers for the CAN`2024, in Côte d'Ivoire.

However, Nicolau Daniel said that Tundavala will still be subject to inspection by the governing body of African football in May.
