Malanje - Athlete Gabriel Sapalo, from the ENDE Center of Cuanza-Sul, was crowned Wednesday (22), in this city, champion of the 45th Edition of the National Individual Absolute Chess Championship, with a total of 8 points.
In 2nd and 3rd place were David Silva, from Escola João Júlio de Viana, and Domingos Júnior, from Macovi, with 7.5 and 6.5 points, respectively.
In the women's individual class, the race was won by Esperança Caxita, from 1º de Agosto, with 8.5 points, followed by Jemina Paulo, from Ditrov, and Ednásia Júnior, from Macovi, who scored 8 and 6.5 points.
The championship, played in the Swiss system, had the participation of 45 athletes from the provinces of Luanda, Malanje, Uíge, Cuanza-Sul, Namibe, Huambo, Moxico, Lunda-Sul and Benguela.
For Thursday and Friday, quick and Blitz matches will take place.
The closing is scheduled for Friday afternoon and will culminate with a tribute to former stars and leaders of the sport in the province. ACC/PBC/CF/DOJ
