Malanje- 1º de Agosto’s International Master (IM) Esperança Caxita leads the 45th National Women's Individual Chess Championship, with six points after four rounds of the competition taking place since May 16 in northern Malanje province.

FIDE masters Gemima Paulo, Ednásia Júnior and Luzia Pires, with three points each followed in the standings.

In the individual absolute category, IM David Silva leads the championship with 3.5 points, while Gabriel Sapalo and Cláudio Félix, also with 3.5 points each, are in second and third place.

The fifth round takes place on Sunday.

The 45th edition of the National Individual Absolute and Individual Women's Chess Championship has 45 athletes from the provinces of Luanda, Malanje, Uíge, Cuanza-Sul, Namibe, Huambo, Moxico, Lunda-Sul and Benguela taking part.The event to end on May 25 will determine the absolute individual national champions, in quick starts and Blitz in men and women categories.
