Luena - The defending champion of the Provincial Absolute Chess Championship, Donaldo Dickson, lost his match against Balduíno Palanga at the weekend, in the second round of the Provincial Chess Championship.
Faced with a 26-year-old opponent, considered a "talent" and self-taught in chess, Donaldo Dickson was forced to use up all his time, totalling two hours, but this was insufficient given the "solid" and "intelligent" game strategy put together by Balduíno Palanga, who used up only 30 minutes of his time.
The matches also saw the second victory in the competition for Laurindo Missengo, two-time champion (2022 and 2023) and the first "titled" player from this region of the country, with a 1902 rating in the International Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings, against Amilton Helder de Sousa.
Of the seven games played, there was only one draw between Ernesto Dumba and Estevao Zango Angolar.
