Luanda - The new president of the Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND) said on Saturday that despite the large difference in votes, the victory is for the sport.
Speaking to the press, in Luanda, after his election by list B, with 53 votes in favour, against 12 of Zeca Venâncio (list A), José do Amaral Júnior “Maninho” said he hoped for everyone's contribution, including the opponents of circumstance.
The former athlete reiterated that it was time to unite and make the federation an organic and functional structure.
"We will do everything not to disappoint those who have trusted us", stressed the substitute of Pedro Godinho, who had been in office since 2008.
He pledged to expand the sport during the 2020/24 period.
The ex-player of 1º de Agosto and Petro de Luanda becomes the tenth president to lead FAAND, after Francisco de Almeida (1979-1981), Hélder de Moura (1981-1983), Marcelino Lima (1983-1985), Sardinha de Castro (1985-1986).
The list includes Augusto Figueiredo (1987-1990), José de Lima / 1990-1998), Hilário Sousa (1999-2000), Archer Mangueira (2001-2008), Pedro Godinho (200-2020) and Agora José do Amaral Júnior " Brother ".
