Luanda - Three candidates are running for the top position in the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) for the 2024/2028 term.
For the elections scheduled for November 30, the candidates are Norberto de Castro, who was the first to present his candidacy last week, Alves Simões and the outgoing president Artur de Almeida e Silva, who only made their intentions official on Monday.
The Electoral Commission, chaired by judge Kerson Cristovão, from September 24th to October 8th, will check whether the three lists comply with the rules.
Still in accordance with the electoral calendar, the results of the accepted candidacies will be published on the 9th of October, while from the 10th to the 14th of the same month it will be for the presentation of complaints from the excluded lists, taking into account any irregularities that will be evaluated in the next two days.
Of the pre-candidates, Alves Simões, chairman of the National Association of Angolan Football Clubs (ANCAF), is running for the first time, while Artur Almeida is seeking a third term. Norberto de Castro who was prevented from competing in 2020, after being considered ineligible by the Electoral Commission.
The FAF has had as chairmen Armando Machado, Justino Fernando, Pedro Neto, among others.
