To reach the final stage, tennis player Gui Iradukundan defeated Congolese William Bushamuka, while Hernando Isnardi beat Angolan Daniel Domingos, who was the runner-up in the previous edition in 2023, in the semi-finals on Saturday.
In the women's category, Adesuwa Osbouahien defeated Kenyan Cynthia Wanjala 6-2 and 6-0, after beating Ghanaian Yvonne Tagoe and Congolese Allyson Onya, respectively, in the semi-finals.
With these victories, the two competitors replace Angolan Chris André and Zimbabwean Rufaro Margarira, who were absent this year.
The competition held from the 19th to the 25th of this month, with four tennis players each, male and female, in addition to Angola, featured representatives from Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Brazil, Portugal, France and Paraguay.
In a joint organization by the Kikuxi Villas Club (KVC) and the Angolan Tennis Federation (FAT), the international tournament brought together around fifty players from 12 countries across several continents and featured a greater number of athletes than in 2023.
The event's organizers intend to include it in the competition calendar of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and its women's version (WTA), so that Angolan players can acquire more experience and world scores.
Angolan Chris André and Zimbabwean Rufaro Margarira were the winners of the last edition, which took place last year, but are currently absent for unknown reasons.
In the men's category, the 25-year-old tennis player, who lives in Germany, defeated fellow Angolan Daniel Domingos, aged 16, in the final by two sets to zero, with partial scores of 6-4 and 6-2, while in the women's category, Rufaro Margarira beat Twanese Kolebogile Mannayoo, by 6-1 and 6-0.
