Luanda – At least two Angolan athletes, Marineth Fernandes and Feliciano Boaventura, will represent the country in the World Junior Taekwondo Championship in male and female categories to take place from October 31 to November 4 in Seoul, South Korea.
The two athletes are going to the competition organized by the government of the Asian country, following their good performances at the South Korean Ambassador Cup held Saturday in Luanda.
Marineth was crowned Junior champion after beating Aminata Ngoma in the -49kg category, while Feliciano beat Moisés Caunda in the 55kg male category.
The national tournament aimed to honour the South Korean diplomat and counted on the participation of five provincial teams, namely Luanda, Huambo, Lunda Sul, Kwanza Sul and Huila.
At least 90 competitors are expected to participate in the World Taekwondo Championship representing a total of 30 countries.
The winner of the South Korea Ambassador Cup was the Huambo team with two gold medals and the same number of bronze, followed by Moxico (one gold and two silver), while Luanda ended in the third position with, one gold and two bronze medals.
