Luanda - The National Team beat Lesotho 4-2, this Wednesday in Durban, South Africa in a match of the 3rd round of the 22nd edition of the Confederation of Southern African Football Association Cup (COSAFA'2023 Cup), which is taking place in South Africa.
In a Group C match played at Moses Mabhida Stadium, players César, Moisés, Emanuel and Osvaldo scored for Angola, while for the opposing team Tumelo and Retthbbele secured their two goals.
With this victory, the national team coached by Zeca Amaral, is second place in the series with Mozambique, each with four (4) points, with no chance of continuing.
Also on Wednesday, in the same group, Mozambique also beat Mauritius 1-0 at Princess Magogo Field, with the only goal scored by Ali Zacarias.
Apart from the defeat, Lesotho lead group C with six points, recording two wins. With three (3) points, Mauritius are in last position.
Defending champions Zambia beat Comoros 2-1 on Sunday in their second group B match and were beaten 0-1 by Malawi in their opening game on Thursday.
The final match of the COSAFA'2023 Cup is scheduled for 16 of the current month at the King Zwellthini Stadium. Before that, the third-place match will be played.
Among the participants, four nations, without Angola on the list, will compete for the trophy of the southern region's football competition, which began in 1997.
The competition´s ranking includes Zambia (title holders), with six points, Zimbabwe with six points, South Africa with 5 points, Angola with 3 points and Namíbia with 1 point, however, the remaining members will try to win the competition in zone 5.
