Luanda – Angola national table tennis team is carrying out a pre-competitive training camp in Portugal ahead of their participation at the Region 5 African Championship to take place on June 28 to 30 in the Angolan capital, in Luanda.
Led by coach Manuel Pimenta, the Angolan team, both in men and women categories are made up of Lisandro André, Domingos Manuel, Ruth Tavares, Isabel Albino and Eugénia Simões, have been improving technical and tactical aspects since Wednesday, in Mirandela.
The Angolan delegation, which ends the training on June 26, is led by the president of the Angolan Table Tennis Federation (FATM), Manuel Morais, who said the goal is to win the competition as a hosting country.
In the last edition of the competition held in Botswana, Angola finished second place, after South Africa.
The Luanda event, taking place at the Paulo Bunze pavilion, has participation from Angola, South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
