Luanda - The Luanda Provincial Swimming team won 18 medals at the South Africa’s national men's and women's Swimming Championships open for Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries, which ended Sunday in Cape Town, South Africa.

In the Level III competition, held in a 50-meter pool, the Angolans won 10 gold, six silver and two bronze medals.

In the overall standings, the Luanda team finished 8th out of 50 teams with 497.50 points.

First place went to Curro Aquatic Swim Club with 1,360 points, followed by Swimlab Aquatic Academ (1,002 points) in second place, while Tygerberg Aquatics (898 points) took third place.

Representing the Angolan capital at the event were swimmers Silvério Manuel, Leonardo Comotti, Davi Dode, Carlos Guimarães, Guilherme Sousa and Olseksander Zhukov.

Neizla Santos, Maria Parimbeli, Rhanya Santo, Aleksandra Zhukov, Sevannah Kempson, Alice Body, Carolina Guimarães, Chelsea Vunge, Isis Palha and Wendy Morais completed the group.

This is the third time the state federation has participated in international competitions, after Namibia and South Africa, both in 2024.

The competition included swimmers from Angola, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia and host South Africa.
