Luanda - The national male and female table tennis senior teams, left this Tuesday for Johannesburg, South Africa,, where they will compete in the Region-5 Games, from 30th June to 3rd July.

Speaking to ANGOP, the chairman of the Angolan Table Tennis  Federation (FATM), Manuel Morais, assured that the seven players are motivated and able to fight for the top positions, plus to improve the third position of the previous edition.

The teams that have been working since February are composed by Hermenegildo Agnelo, Edvane Neto, Domingos Manuel and António Lemos, as individual players.

For the female squad were selected Isabel Albino, Jerusa Borges and Kailane de Sousa

For the federation leader, who heads the delegation, although Angolan table tennis has been absent from international competitions for about three years, internally an intense preparation work was carried out, which guarantees reasonable competitive levels.

In 2018, in Botswana, Angola ended in the third position with one silver and two bronze medals, in the games won by South Africa.

The competition serves to qualify the teams for the African Championship, scheduled for October this year, in Algeria.

The championship in Algeria qualifies the representatives of the continent for the South Africa World Cup, in 2023.
