Luanda - The coach of Sagrada Esperança, Roque Sapiri, regretted the elimination of his team in the group stage of the CAF Champions League, despite the victory against Abu Salim of Libya, 3-0, at the 11 de Novembro Stadium.
Speaking on Sunday night to the press, in Luanda, after the game of the 6th and final round of Group B, the coach stated that his team played with character and personality, but they were unable to progress to the other stage.
“This was not what we expected, but I believe that in qualitative terms the team did well. We can’t do everything”, he lamented.
The coach, national champion with the Luanda Norte Province team (Sagrada Esperança) in 2020-2021, said they cannot afford to fall and always “postpone” taking a step forward in African competitions.
He stated that there is a need for greater structure on the part of the management, because with the current level the team will always be disqualified prematurely, adding that after such a finding, the solution is to continue working hard so that in the future there is consistency in the club's results.
“The team played a lot, even with great difficulties in terms of the squad that everyone knows, but now the attention is focused on internal competitions, which are Girabola and the Angola Cup”, he highlighted.
It should be remembered that in this edition of the Nelson Mandela Cup, Sagrada Esperança finished the group stage with seven points, scored five goals and conceded two.
