Luanda – The swimmer of the Nautical Club of Ilha de Luanda, Rafaela Santos, won this Sunday the first edition of the International Meeting of Open Water, in senior women´s category, contested on the beach at Ilha de Luanda.
Rafaela Santos, while representing the National Team, needed one 1:42.59, in a race of five thousand kilometres (km).
Regarding senior male, the Portuguese player Ricardo Bras from Vikings de Portugal won with a time of 1:42.28. The second position belonged to compatriot Rafael Gil (1:56.6).
Angolan Alex Fortes, from Clube Náutico da Ilha de Luanda, was third (1:51.53).
In the women´s 3000 km, the first place went to the Angolan Neilza dos Santos, from Clube Náutico (1:6.56) and the first place went to Mário Bonança, from Vikings de Portugal (56:58).
In the 1.500 km in absolute category, Miguel Rodrigues from Vikings de Portugal won with a time of 27:20, followed by Guilherme de Sousa (29min:28sec) and Welwitschia Silva (39:1), the last two from the Clube de Ténis de Luanda (CNIL).
The race, in which 84 athletes took part, was part of the 447th anniversary of the founding of Luanda capital city, which is celebrated on the 25th of this month.
