Luanda - The minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, on Wednesday in Luanda stated that individual disciplines that demonstrate sustained evolution deserve special attention from the Ministry.

The support for individual sports disciplines is a policy of the minister with the aim of reaching the podium of international competitions more frequently. Therefore, Rui Falcão stressed that the priority is focused on modalities that are developed based on scientific knowledge.

The minister was speaking during the reception for the national Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) team, who recently won one gold medal, two silver medals and six bronze medals at the World Championships, held in Uzbekistan.

Rui Falcão revealed that the government praises the athletes' efforts, reiterating that the Ministry will continue to work so that the Angolan flag is raised at the highest level in the most diverse international competitions.

Regarding the organization of the 2026 World Cup in Angola, the minister informed that the work has been going on for three months, with a rehearsal planned for the 50th anniversary of Angola's independence, in 2025.

He explained that before participating in the world MMA championship “Angola`2026”, the country will host the African Championship in 2025, and at this time tribute will be paid to Demarte Pena, who has also represented the country with dignity throughout the world.

On the other hand, the chairman of the Angolan Federation, Armando Diogo, recognized the ministry's support for both international activities and international competitions.

“Angola is the gold medal in African competition, won in Uzbekistan and with many difficulties, but nine medals were won, including a gold medal and a belt, all due to work and support from the State,” he stated.

According to him, as a result of this achievement, Angola will participate in the World Championship to maintain ranking, which will take place in Monte Negro, starting on December 8th, with the participation of 32 countries.

According to him, the objective will be to maintain the first position in the World Ranking.

In Uzbekistan, Angola won the gold medal, with Maria Kitoco (74.8 KGS), two silvers with Clarence Francisco (79.8kg) and Ana Fernando (79.4kg), while Nkunga Vakanda (56kg), Mifa Nicolau (88kg), Maria Liberal (70.3kg), Jorgina Ludimila (78.4kg), Esperança Pereira (57.7kg) and Linara Costa (56.7kg) won bronze medal.
