Luanda – Angola’s fifth qualification for the African Nations Footbal Championship (CHAN’2025) for home-based players is a landmark that shows the quality of the first division National Football Championship (Girabola), defended the Youth and Sports minister, Rui Falcão.
On a press release sent to ANGOP, the minister states that the country is proudly celebrating its fifth qualification for CHAN, a feat that reinforces the need to continue to invest in the improvement of the internal competition.
With the presence in CHAN2025 guaranteed – set to happen next year in February in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya – it is renewed the commitment to proper and solid preparation, aiming for a dignifying participation of Angola in such important international sporting arena, where the country has already achieved the second position (vice champions) in 2022, in Sudan.
Rui Falcão congratulated the players, the technical team and all those that contributed to this achievement, and wished that they can continue to “raise the Angolan flag higher”.
Angola lost to Lesotho by 0-1 this Saturday in the 11 de Novembro Stadium, in Luanda, but managed to secure the pass to the African Nations Footbal Championship (CHAN).
Despite the defeat, the Angolan squad, coached by the Portuguese Pedro Gonçalves, are through to CHAN2025, for having won the first leg encounter by 2-0, goals scored by Megue and Kaporal.
