Provincial Swimming Association chairman highlights quality of Luanda Meeting

Luanda – Mastery in different specialties both in pure and open waters was at the base of national swimmers competitive level during the 3rd edition of the International Meeting in the Angolan capital, the chairman of the Luanda Provincial Swimming Association (APNL), Miguel Aguiar, has said in Luanda.

When evaluating the race, held from the 1st to the 3rd of the current month, in the Alvalade and Luanda Island swimming pools, in the capital city, the director told the press that one of the purposes was to increase the competitive experience of the participants, so that they can reach other levels in their career.

He added that APNL has been working in order to make swimming to gain greater publicity and expansion, as well as visibility for the various clubs, which invest in the sport, as well as increasing the number of practitioners.

The sports director informed that APRIL's next challenges include bringing in more teams from outside the country and placing more emphasis on a high level of competition, allowing for more dynamics and effort on the part of the swimmers.

In turn, a member of the organising committee, Suzeth Santos, revealed that the big news of the 3rd edition of the Luanda Meeting was the implementation of the Triathlon, which she considered an added value and the great challenge that resulted in a positive way for the event.

In relation to the Luanda teams, he praised the victories of 1º de Agosto and the Luanda Island Nautical Club (CNIL), which have more experienced swimmers in the youth and junior ranks, being stronger.

Regarding the delegation from Mozambique, which gave the event an international character, with the presence of six swimmers, both in male and female category, Miguel Aguiar praised their attitude and performance, during the three days of competition.

The Luanda International Meeting, also in the scope of the celebrations of the 449th anniversary of the Angolan capital city, marked on January 25th, was attended by more than 70 practitioners.

In the tests, the swimmer from 1º de Agosto won the competition in pure waters, while the open waters were won by the CNIL swimmer.
