Luanda - President João Lourenço announced on Tuesday, in Luanda, the increase of 70 thousand federated athletes, resulting from the growth of national competitions in the various age groups.
When delivering the message on the State of the Nation, at the opening of the 3rd Legislative Session of the V Legislature, the Angolan Head of State said that in the last twelve months around 300 medals have been obtained, with emphasis on fight sports and other individual competitions.
He mentioned that the National Plan for the Development of Sport (PLANADESPORTO), which was recently approved, should constitute another element in this direction, as it is expected to contribute to the generalization of physical and sporting practice throughout the country, including the improvement in high-level sport performance.
PLANADESPORTO'2024-2027 is based on supporting school, community, high-intermediate, federated and high-performance sports.
It contains measures that aim to strengthen sports infrastructures, through public investment in the sector, and it highlights the need to establish partnerships with the private sector to boost the sports industry in Angola.
