Luanda – President João Lourenço on Friday congratulated the Angolan National Football Team on defeating Niger by 2-0, in a third-round game qualifier for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), to happen in Morocco.
On a post in his X digital platform, João Lourenço wrote “Viva Angola! A well deserved victory”!
He congratulated the players and technical team, as well as the supporters for their consistent solidarity with the squad.
The Angolan statesman recognised that the Palancas Negras (Sable Antelopes, the squad’s official nickname) absolutely dominated the game.
“Morocco is getting closer and closer. We trust our Palancas”, concluded the Angolan President.
With this win, Angola lead the group with 9 points, followed by Sudan (4), Ghana (2) and Niger (1).
