Luanda - New starting blocks were unveiled in Luanda’s Alvalade swimming pool on Saturday, after 58 years of existence.
These are 16 blocks fixed at each end of the eight tracks, putting an end to the old reinforced concrete material, in place since it was built 1973.
The new equipment, approved by the International Swimming Federation from South Africa, has the floor part in brown red fabric and non-slip type.
The inauguration of the new blocks allows the infrastructure to meet the international standards.
The move ensures greater safety for swimmers in terms of the accidents.
This is the third work carried on in the swimming pools since Joaquim Santos took up his duties as the Chairman of the swimming federation. JAD/MC/MRA/NIC
