Luanda -Petro de Luanda won the national senior basketball championship Wednesday after beating 1º de Agosto 91-78 in the fourth game of the playoffs final, with power forward Aboubakar Gakou being crucial in this win with 21 points scored.
The power forward was elected MVP of the championship, being the second most used player of his team, totalling 37 minutes against 39 of Gerson Gonçalves in the final game.
In the third quarter Aboubakar made 50 percent of three-point shots, making four out of eight attempts.
The game was extremely balanced being tied several times 27-27, 34-34 and 38-38, however Petro came ahead (43-42) at the end of the first half.
Petro de Luanda went further ahead in the third quarter 70-52, with the opponent unable to avoid defeat.
A power failure at the Cidadela pavilion forced a six-minute stoppage.
1º de Agosto won by 76-71 in the first game losing the second by 90-71 and the third by 97-74.
